Three glass meal-prep containers with ground beef over rice and broccoli, a southwestern salad, and a Mediterranean bowl

Fueling your metabolism shouldn't require hours in the kitchen. Good nutrition relies on consistent, protein-dense anchors that fit into your routine.

Cooking 1 lb of 90/10 or 93/7 lean ground beef yields roughly 88–92 grams of protein, plus iron, zinc, and B vitamins. Here are three ways to use a full pound.

Recipe 1: Korean beef & jasmine rice bowl

  • Ingredients: 1 lb lean ground beef, 2 tbsp low-sodium tamari, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tsp fresh ginger, 2 cups cooked jasmine rice, 2 cups steamed broccoli.
  • Prep: Sauté the beef with garlic and ginger in sesame oil until browned. Stir in tamari. Serve over rice with broccoli.
  • Per serving (serves 2): ~45 g protein · ~40 g carbs · ~15 g fat

Recipe 2: Southwestern skillet bowl

  • Ingredients: 1 lb lean ground beef, 1 packet low-sodium taco seasoning (or cumin + chili powder), 1 cup rinsed black beans, 1 cup fresh salsa, ½ avocado, 4 cups mixed greens.
  • Prep: Brown the beef with the seasoning. Add black beans to warm through. Serve over greens with salsa and avocado.
  • Per serving (serves 2): ~48 g protein · ~25 g carbs · ~18 g fat

Recipe 3: Mediterranean beef & feta bowl

  • Ingredients: 1 lb lean ground beef, 1 tsp oregano, ½ tsp garlic powder, 1 cup diced cucumber, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, 2 tbsp crumbled feta, 2 tbsp Greek yogurt tzatziki.
  • Prep: Season and brown the beef. Assemble bowls with cucumber, tomatoes, feta, and tzatziki.
  • Per serving (serves 2): ~46 g protein · ~10 g carbs · ~16 g fat

The Axis Framework: simple, anti-fad fueling

  • Heavy & progressive resistance training: Pair high-protein whole foods with regular resistance training to drive muscle protein synthesis.
  • Protein & nutrient fuel: Skip extreme starvation diets. Treat food as functional fuel that sustains energy and protects your metabolism.
  • Biological optimization: Healthy digestion and metabolic function help your body break down and use the nutrients you eat.

The bottom line

Eating for metabolic health isn't about restriction — it's about protein-forward habits that feed your muscle and keep your blood sugar steady through the day.
